Oh, the lovely days of winter! We want some snow! Here is how we beat the winter blues...
First, have Operation Sleep Over. Sister and brother were VERY excited all day long about their all night adventure. Games were played. Loud, noisy games. A yummy dinner was served. A fun movie was watched and popcorn was popped and thrown all over the floor by brother. Why not throw popcorn all over the new rug? That is what brothers do when mom and dad are cleaning up the kitchen. A bath was taken, a story, or two, or three, or four... was read and then it was time for the big SLEEP OVER! Excitement filled the air and lots of hugs and kisses were given. Prayer was said and out went the light. Brother immediately darts out of his cozy wrapped burrito and jumps like a lunatic on the glamourous air mattress all the while, bouncing his sister (still wrapped in her burrito) all over the bed. Enter mom. Discipline administered. Burrito boy wrapped back up. Not 2 seconds later, "Wet's pway choo choo twacks sissy!" "No, no, no, Jonah. You heard mommy and daddy say that we have to STAY in our bed if we want to have a REAL sleep over buddy." Five minutes later, "BAM, BAM, BAM!" Books thrown all over the bed by brother. Discipline administered. Sister still obeying mom and dad very nicely. Brother not. Brother given one more chance. Chance wasted (imagine that) and brother was moved to his own bed (in the same room). Sister was able to stay in the room until 4 AM when brother woke up, ready to play. You get the point. Sleep over??? Maybe we will try again next year? Probably, next month. Memories are fun.

Operation Bag Head. Pretty fun!

Operation Shaving Cream. Hint: Only for kids well over 4 years old.
Operation Sick. This past week, we have had a very sick little boy. It all started with a small cough that progressed to the most aggressive cough I have ever seen. His chunky little body withstood 18 hours of constant coughing. It was terrible! After a trip to the ER, with meds in hand, a very groggy mommy and boy go back home only to endure more coughing and wheezing. To top it all off, he did not sleep for THREE nights and only took a teeny tiny nap (20 mins) each day. Every three hours, he had to have a breathing treatment (above picture) and we are still at it. Asthma is NO fun. It is terribly frustrating for the child and scary for the mommy who doesn't know how to help her sweet child stop coughing and make him breath easier. I felt like a mommy with a newborn all over again, except with a newborn, you get to sleep for a couple of hours in between feedings. Never thought I would wish for those days again... I think we are on our way to recovery. Just need a little sleep around here. ZZZZZZZ.
